Longshan Temple and Snake Alley (May 29, 2009)
In the evening, Joanne, Tim, and I headed downtown on the MRT and over to Longshan Temple. After checking out the temple, we walked over to Snake Alley, where restaurants sell snake soup or offer shots of snake’s blood. At one place, a snake handler had a cobra on display, but they didn’t allow photography.

The Temple on the Mountain (May 29, 2009)
The first day after Tim arrived in Taiwan, he, Joanne, and I went for a drive over to a temple on the other side of the valley from our apartment. Joanne and I had never been inside, so we took the opportunity to check it out before continuing on up the mountain for a short drive.

Eric and I went for a long bike ride up the mountain into Yang Ming Shan National Park. Along the way, we passed SiaoYouKeng, a famous fumarole destination in the park.

A co-worker asked me to teach him how to swear effectively in Mandarin yesterday. And that reminds me one of books I got from Seattle. I bought it over 10 years ago but I never finish it. I was checking out the news of the day this morning when I found this. This golden retriever follows her owner to the traditional market and carries the grocery home every day.
